About Adam
Adam DeRito is a veteran, advocate, and reformer who has spent his life serving his country and standing up for truth when it mattered most. A member of the United States Air Force Academy's Class of 2010 and a U.S. Army Civil Affairs Captain, Adam has led missions around the world, from the Middle East to humanitarian operations abroad, always putting service above self.
Adam's path has never been the easy one. After uncovering corruption and retaliation at the Air Force Academy, he became a national voice for military accountability and reform. His advocacy led to the creation of the Military Mental Health Protection and Justice Act (DeRito Act), a legislative initiative to protect service members from medical malpractice and mental health misdiagnoses within the Department of Defense. His tireless work has brought him to Washington, D.C., multiple times, where he continues to fight for justice, transparency, and reform in the armed forces and federal service academies.
Outside the military, Adam has proven himself in America's toughest industries. From the oilfields of Colorado to refinery operations and private entrepreneurship, he is a union member who has lived the same challenges that hardworking families across District 8 face every day. His experience in energy, agriculture, and education has made him a fierce defender of Colorado's economic backbone and workers' right to thrive without government interference.
After deploying in 2021 with Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield, Adam returned home with a renewed sense of faith and purpose. He began teaching at a local Catholic school and runs multiple podcasts, giving survivors and whistleblowers a voice in the fight against corruption and abuse. His life's work embodies a belief in redemption, resilience, and the power of ordinary citizens to make extraordinary change.
Today, Adam is running for Congress in Colorado's 8th Congressional District to bring that same courage, experience, and integrity to Washington. His campaign is built on three core values:
